David Bentley / Independent systems engineer

A person to work with.
Not another layer.

I investigate, design and build practical improvements to the way a business uses its information.

Working together

You speak directly to me.

I’m David Bentley, the systems engineer behind Higher Self Systems Engineering. I investigate the situation, make the technical decisions and take responsibility for my work.

I use AI where it is useful. Choosing the job, checking the evidence and deciding what a system may do remain human responsibilities.

Two different kinds of work.

In the wellness investigation, I traced an account-wide suppression event in existing customer records. For a training provider, I built a Course Finder designed to turn role and goal into a narrower course choice.

The useful result comes first.

You should not need to become a systems engineer to understand what the work is meant to achieve. I would rather recommend a smaller change than leave you with a system whose upkeep is harder to justify than its benefit.

A useful answer, with its basis intact. That is the principle behind the work, from an investigation to a finished tool.

Personal responsibility needs clear boundaries.

I work independently. Scope, access, handover, maintenance and what happens if I am unavailable need to be agreed for the particular job. Personal accountability should not leave those questions unanswered.
